IMPACTO NEWS - JANUARY 2026

Jan. 31, 2026 by Impacto

In the blink of an eye the first month of 2026 has come to an end. With how busy January has been we feel like 2026 started 6 months ago! All jokes aside, God has done so much this month; He has given us ideas and plans to continue to work towards our goals and objectives as a ministry. Impacto’s goals and objectives seek the same outcome, to honor and glorify God in all we do and be just the tiniest little part in furthering His Kingdom. As we polish our ideas and plans, and seek God’s guidance and will, we will share more. For now, we ask that you please lift our Executive Team in prayer that we may follow God’s will and not our own. As you pray for Impacto if you feel led to contribute towards His ministry, we will deeply appreciate it.

Judging by Appearance: Lessons from 1 Samuel

It is impossible to avoid news and discussions about people's skin color and appearance in today’s media. Whether you turn on the TV, listen to the radio, or read the newspaper, these issues are constantly present. Society often places too much or too little importance on how people look, leading to ongoing debates and judgments based on outward appearance.

This theme is echoed in chapter 16 of the first book of Samuel. In the story, God instructs Samuel to anoint the next king of Israel. Samuel travels to see Jesse and his sons, knowing that one of them will be chosen. While David, the future king, is out tending sheep, Jesse’s other sons come forward before Samuel. These young men are tall and handsome, with striking features, and each time Samuel sees one, he believes that this must be the person God has chosen.

However, God repeatedly tells Samuel that none of these impressive young men is the right choice. After all the sons have come forward, Samuel asks Jesse if there are any others, and Jesse mentions David, who is still out shepherding. Through this experience, God teaches Samuel a vital lesson: outward appearance is not what matters most.

The message from this story is clear—God does not judge people by their looks but sees what is inside. Outward appearance is not important to God! This principle encourages us to look beyond outward appearances and to value people for their character, intentions, and actions. By living according to this lesson, we can strive to see individuals for who they truly are, rather than focusing solely on what they look like.

Serving Christ together,

Pastor Luis

2026 NEEDS: NUEVA VIDA BIBLE INSTITUTE

Presence and Vision – The Nueva Vida Bible Institute, established to honor God, is currently active in Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras, with plans to expand soon into Africa. For years, Impacto's vision has been to equip those called to preach and teach the Bible, as well as individuals who desire a deeper understanding of the Word of God.

Overcoming Barriers to Biblical Training – Many pastors have encountered significant challenges when seeking further education. Often, seminaries require advanced educational backgrounds for admission, making it difficult for some to enroll. Additionally, the economic situation in Guatemala means that tuition fees are prohibitive for many potential students.

Accessible Training Through Nueva Vida Bible Institute – To address these obstacles, the Nueva Vida Bible Institute was founded as a registered entity, dedicated to teaching and training students without imposing such limitations. During the pandemic, the Institute transitioned to virtual classes, which enabled instruction for students throughout Guatemala and in parts of Mexico and Honduras. Soon, these online teachings will also be available in Africa.

Class Structure and Outreach – For each group—which consists of a minimum of six and a maximum of twelve students—in each village, the Institute provides a computer and internet access to the local church. This allows students to come together and participate in classes under the supervision of their pastor. To date, the Institute has established 35 student groups, supplying each with a computer and covering the internet service costs.

Student Growth and Achievements – In 2025, the Institute served a total of 162 students. Over the past five years, three classes have graduated, resulting in 75 students who have completed their studies. Looking ahead to 2026, the Institute is beginning the year with 175 new students. Through God's grace, this ministry has enabled many students to graduate and become licensed ministers, who are now spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, planting churches, and making disciples. While not completely funded for 2026, we are able to continue the mission of teaching the Word of God! If you would like to be a part of this extremely important ongoing ministry, please consider helping with your financial support. We, and the students, would be eternally thankful!

Operational Need – Annual operational cost of the Institute is $50,000 USD
